Grain
• Risk Management Program—an option-based, long-term grain marketing program. We strive to enhance farm profitability by achieving higher grain prices through sound non-speculative risk management techniques. Our program utilizes option-based futures marketing with solid cash grain marketing.
• On-Farm Grain Pickup—Southeast has several semis and grain carts that are utilized to pick-up grain off the farm during harvest and post-harvest time periods. Trucking rates vary on the distance from Beatrice to the farm. This program works very well for our producers. We can move a large amount of grain in a short amount of time at very competitive prices.
• LDP & Marketing Loan Management—We help our producers by watching the grain markets on a daily basis. We will then contact our producers when the timing is right for LDPs or loan repayment rate lock-ins. The producer has the final say in how the grain is marketed. We help with the paper work to apply for the LDP or the rate lock-in.
• Firm Offers—A producer can place orders in to sell their grain when the cash price hits a certain level. Producers do not have to watch prices on a daily basis. We do this for you.
• Free Delayed Pricing—Usually begins in the winter months. Free DP allows producers to deliver grain to Southeast and not have a storage charge from the date of delivery until a pre-determined date (usually in the fall) as long as the producer passes title of the grain to Southeast. Storage will begin on that pre-determined date if the grain has not been priced. The storage is not retroactive to the date of delivery. Free DP works well for producers that do not like storing grain into the spring and summer months. These producers do not have to price their grain until they feel the time is right.
• Grain Vacuuming—Southeast has grain vacuums available to move grain in tough situations. We will rent these at a small expense to our producers if the grain is delivered to Southeast.
• Shuttle Trains—Southeast has built a 110-car shuttle train loading facility at our Beatrice location in 2003. We have the ability to load over 400,000 bushels of corn, milo, soybeans or wheat in approximately 10 hours. The shuttle train allows Southeast to participate in the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Shuttle Train Program. The shuttle train program provides Southeast with some of the most competitive freight rates in Nebraska. These lower freight rates allow Southeast to bid competitively for producer grain, while adding efficiency to our operation.
